The nature and identity of the institution

Enke for Studies and Research is an independent Iraqi cultural institution concerned with scientific research and the development of the humanities.

Enke for Studies and Research is an Iraqi cultural institution concerned with scientific research and the development of the humanities.

The name I chose as its title has a symbolic dimension that alludes to the scientific, cognitive, and aesthetic meanings and connotations that Mesopotamian civilization holds. It is well known that the Sumerian civilization, which inhabited the land of Iraq, is the symbol of human civilization, its dawn, and the cradle of its first letter. The name "Enke" also refers to the Sumerian god of wisdom, just as it refers to science and knowledge. In this way, we have combined two meanings: the letter, which represents the original substance of the pen, and wisdom, as it is the title of knowledge and the compass of humanity.

The Enke Foundation for Studies and Research seeks to stimulate intellectual and cultural activity and invigorate creativity in Iraq and the Arab world. In doing so, it is guided by a missionary perspective and does not seek commercial gain. All of this is done to effectively contribute to building a new and creative Iraqi and Arab awareness amidst the turbulent sea created by the information media and communications revolution.

The Enke Foundation for Studies and Research is comprised of three departments, each with its own administrative system and distinct specializations. These departments are: Enki Publishing and Distribution House, the Enki Scientific Association, which publishes the Enki Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Studies and Research Department.
